Sobita Gautam is a Member of the Nepali House of Representatives. She was elected in 2022 from Kathmandu-2 as the youngest directly elected lawmaker in Nepal’s federal parliament. She currently serves on the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee, actively engaging in legislative reform and institutional accountability.
In 2025, she was elected as a member of the Health Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at its 150th Assembly, representing Nepal on a global platform for health policy and governance. Recognizing her leadership and commitment to systemic reform, she was named one of One Young World’s Politicians of the Year in 2023.
Sobita is a founding central committee member of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, representing a new generation of political leadership grounded in reform, integrity, and citizen-centric governance.
Trained as a lawyer, she brings over a decade of experience in youth activism, legal advocacy, public policy, and civic engagement. From 2018 to 2021, she served on the board of the Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON), the country’s largest umbrella organization of youth Organizations. Before her political career, she was widely recognized for her impactful media work, particularly as the host of a nationally acclaimed health program that bridged expert dialogue with public discourse on critical issues.
Her work spans diverse but interconnected fields—legal reform, inclusive governance, climate justice, youth empowerment, tourism policy, economic transformation, and the intersection of health and human rights. Her bold voice and principled politics make her a standout figure in Nepal’s contemporary political landscape.
