Sobita Gautam is the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs of Nepal. She was re-elected to the Federal Parliament in 2026 from Chitwan-3, serving her second term. In 2022, she was elected from Kathmandu-2, making history as the youngest directly elected Member of Nepal’s Federal Parliament.

She currently serves as Chairperson of Cabinet Committee on Legislative Affairs.

In 2025, she was elected as a member of the Health Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at its 150th Assembly, representing Nepal on a global platform for health policy and governance. Recognizing her leadership, she was named one of One Young World’s Politicians of the Year in 2023.

Sobita was a founding central committee member and now serves as a vice- chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

Trained as a lawyer, she brings over a decade of experience in youth activism, legal advocacy, public policy, and civic engagement. From 2018 to 2021, she served on the board of the Association of Youth Organizations Nepal (AYON), the country’s largest umbrella organization of youth Organizations. Before her political career, she was widely recognized for her impactful media work, particularly as the host of a nationally acclaimed health program that bridged expert dialogue with public discourse on critical issues.

Her bold voice and principled politics make her a standout figure in Nepal’s contemporary political landscape.
